Macau

In 2008 I began a three-year project with colleagues in Macau called Young Creative Voices.  The project is produced by MacWac Theatre Company in partnership with the Inter-Universitarium Institutum Macaonese (IIUM). The project places young people at its centre.

Working with 10 young leaders at the core of the project we produce one devised project per year exploring an aspect of Macau's decolonisation.  The 2008 performance worked on "memory", the 2009 work on "transition" and 2010 will focus on "transformation". YCV Macau also organises a year round program of events and our group have set up a not for profit company called the International Performing Arts Association of Macau (IPAAM).

Young Creative Voices has been invited to perform "transformation" at the International Drama in Education Association (IDEA) 2010 Conference in Brazil. We are one of only three groups from around the world invited.

Funded by the British Council, young Macau artist Jenny Mok will be travelling to Belfast in May to work with me, as well as with younger professionals associated with Replay Theatre Company, and with other contacts and physical theatre specialists.
